Mackenzie Happe is a friendly, outgoing senior at the University of Maryland. She majors in Broadcast Journalism; she loves live TV as well as more in depth storytelling. Her favorite experiences at UMD have been volunteering at CNS, a student-run live news cast, and shooting pig races at the Anne Arundel County Fair with the award winning ViewFinder team.

While Mackenzie loves the fast-paced excitement of her journalism career, she likes to relax at any of the free museums in Washington D.C. Mackenzie’s passion for art began after her first visit to the National Gallery of Art and that’s when she decided to pick up art history as a second major in school.

Mackenzie is originally from Pittsburgh where she loves to eat sandwiches with french fries on them and take the T “dahntahn.” Mackenzie volunteers at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh and makes frequent trips to the museum when she isn’t volunteering. Although Mackenzie loves the DMV area, Pittsburgh will always have a special place in her heart.

At UMD, Mackenzie is the Off Campus Business Manager of her A Cappella group the ‘UMD Treblemakers.’ This group is where Mackenzie has found her greatest friends at school and is able to exercise her love for singing. Mackenzie also works at McKeldin Library and spends a lot of time shooting and editing stories.
